97...- and still able to complain about my country and the characters who are "running" it; running means how fast can you stash $$$$ in your pocket!
I moved to a "retirement" community - apartments occupied by residents - who moved here for assorted reasons. Called Monte Vista - "view of the mountain" and I'm able to enjoy looking at the "view" from my balcony.
During the past 18 months I've met many interesting people - most of them friendly, helpful and opportunities to learn new skills.....(like playing pool!!!) Alas, a pool table will never replace walking 18 holes on assorted magnificent golf courses - or playing on tennis teams in Northern California....
I'm also learning that it's best not to get involved in political discussions....amazing how many residents are of different political "persusasions". So I listen, read (love mysteries/detective stuff) and here I am "blogging"!!
My week's highlight is a Sunday Zoom session with my kids (and occasionally granddaughter Miriam) from Maryland, New York and Oakland.
Monte Vista offers meals - but I still do a bit of cooking and baking in my "compact" kitchen. And my mixer sits on the counter waiting for an occasional episode of baking "Ruthy" style - less sugar!!!
I miss my piano and occasionally use the massive instrument in the lobby - yuk! Called my former tuner and asked him to find an inexpensive spinet.....
And as an A.K. - I manage to see a few MD's - Dentist - etc. (So many have retired and the scene is sooo different compared to the days when my Ben was practicing! (In El Paso and Northern California)
So as the Brits said: "Keep calm and carry on!"
